Hi, I'm Helen!
Hi! I'm Helen, the Little Goat behind the studio (my last name means baby goat in French). I draw all the designs for my scarves right here in my studio in Toronto along with my quality control officer, Houdini.
I decided to focus on silk scarves for a few reasons..
-
They're versatile
you can wear them as tops, head wraps, as beach cover-ups, etc
-
They work on every body!
No need to worry whether a scarf will fit you properly, it always does!
-
They're timeless
I have scarves in my closet that belonged to my grandma that I still wear!
My inspiration
I get a lot of inspiration from antique pattern directories, and I love exploring the digital collections of museums like the Met and the British Museum. I’m also always keeping an eye out for any cool patterns or borders I may come across in paintings, old photographs, and buildings (like the ceiling from the silvers wing upstairs at the V&A, or a gazebo on the grounds of the Tyntesfield estate in Bristol, or an ancient iron door I walked past one time on the Upper East Side).
I love a hidden meaning, and I incorporate lots of symbolism into my pieces.
When you wear one of these scarves, I want it to feel like you've found something really special that you can’t get just anywhere. I hope the intentions and love I put into my designs come through, and that you have an even better day every time you pop one on!
Being a truly sustainable and environmentally conscious consumer has always been super important to me, so when I began my studio, I did so with these values top of mind.
I'm not here to get rich quick (or at all), and I will always do my absolute best to put the planet and the people who live here above my bottom line. If you have any questions about the steps we're taking to be as Earth-friendly as possible, or if you just want to geek out with me about environmental certification/due-diligence rabbit-holes, email me!
Thanks for reading! You're pretty cool I bet..
